China's installed capacity of power battery increases by 100.2 percent YoY in Jan. 02-28-2024

Summary: In Jan. 2024, China's installed capacity of power battery was 32.3 GWh, a YoY increase of 100.2% and a MoM decrease of 32.6%.

Output of power batteries

In Jan. 2024, China had a total output of 65.2 GWh power batteries, a YoY increase of 68.0% and a MoM decrease of 16.1%. Among them, the output of ternary batteries was 22.7 GWh, accounting for 34.8% of the total output, a YoY increase of 82.8% and a MoM decrease of 9.1%; the output of lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) batteries was 42.4 GWh, accounting for 65.0% of the total output with a YoY increase of 60.7% and a MoM decrease of 19.2%.

 

Installed capacity of power batteries

In Jan. 2024, China's installed capacity of power battery was 32.3 GWh, a YoY increase of 100.2% and a MoM decrease of 32.6%. Among the total capacity, ternary batteries had a total installed capacity of 12.6 GWh, accounting for 39.0% of the total installed capacity, a YoY increase of 131.9% and a MoM decrease of 23.9%; LFP batteries had a total installed capacity of 19.7 GWh, accounting for 60.9% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 84.2% YoY and an decrease of 37.1% MoM.

 

Sales of New Energy Vehicles

In Jan. 2024, China sold 729,000 New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), a YoY increase of 78.8%. Among them, the sales volume of Blade Electric Vehicles (BEV) was 445,000, a YoY increase of 55.1%; the sales volume of Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) was 284,000, a YoY increase of 135.0%.
